'Ninja Turtles' to feature Krang, Bebop, and Rocksteady?
Grrr...I actually posted this over the weekend but my Blogger app screwed up and erased the darn thing. But here we go now, with some more info on Platinum Dunes' upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles flick...which doesn't have ninjas, teenagers, or mutants. Instead it's been reported that the pizza eating quartet will come from an alien planet, which caused fans to explode in rather hilarious fits of anger. TMNT co-creator, Kevin Eastman, made a pretty convincing case for chilling the f**k out about it, and director Jonathan Liebesman seems excited about it.
Latino Review's El Mayimbe somehow got a hold of the script last month, and he began tweeting some info on the story, and it's definitely outer space influenced. He revealed that not only would the story feature the body-less alien leader, Krang, but that mutants Bebop and Rocksteady make appearances as well. He also mentioned Krang's roving battle station, the Technodrome, and his home in Dimension X. Other than Raphael, Krang was always my favorite character. Banished from his planet and sent to earth without a body, Krang would be joined by Shredder who designed a powerful mechanical body to house his brain-like form. As for Bebop and Rocksteady, they were a pair of street thugs who were mutated into the form of a rhinoceros and boar in order to better fight the Turtles, but they retained their dim-witted natures.
There's also a supposedly confirmed plot that's been making the rounds which backs up the presence of Krang, along with April O'Neil and Splinter...
PLOT: After their planet’s destruction, four turtle-like alien warriors and their master come to Earth, where they join forces with reporter April O’Neil to prevent the extradimensional conqueror Krang from enslaving the human race.
Keep in mind that none of this may even be in play anymore, as we recently learned the film had been delayed with script problems one of the major causes. Michael Bay and Co. probably won't totally jettison the entire alien thing, but we may see some other elements made more prominent. For now, Ninja Turtles is slated to open on May 16th 2014. [CBM]
