Don't let this rather generic new poster for Broken City fool you, this film looks incredible. If you're a fan of old school noir thrillers full of corrupt politicians, scandalous ladies, and hard-boiled private dicks, this is the flick for you.
As for the poster itself....well, it's a little 'blah", and could have come from any of a million Mark Wahlberg flicks, except for the inclusion of Russell Crowe. The film is directed by Allen Hughes(The Book of Eli), striking out on his own while his brother Albert continues to struggle with Motor City. Wahlberg plays Billy Taggart, an ex-cop with a murky past who is hired by a New York City mayoral candidate(Crowe) to investigate his wife's(Catherine Zeta-Jones) alleged affair. The trailer will be playing ahead of Taken 2 this weekend and will likely debut online shortly, but having seen it already I can tell you they give away far too many plot twists. Otherwise it looks like a really good flick.
Broken City opens on January 18th 2013.
