Sure Shots: Clark Gregg; Meryl Streep; 'Yogi Bear 2'

* So Clark Gregg's Agent Coulson may have met a tragic end in The Avengers, but that doesn't mean the actor's career is equally dead and buried. Gregg is set to write and direct Trust Me, a dark indie comedy about a former child actor turned agent who tries to sign a 13-year old prodigy while dealing with personal and professional  hurdles. The film has a stacked cast with Allison Janney, Sam Rockwell, Amanda Peet, Paul Sparks, Felicity Huffman, her husband William H. Macy, Molly Shannon, Niecy Nash, and newcomer Saxon Sharbino. Gregg made his directorial debut in 2008 with the Chuck Pahlaniuk adaptation, Choke.

* It was way back in January we learned that Rob Marshall(Chicago) was developing a big screen version of Broadway hit, Into the Woods. And now following a screenplay reading featuring a ton of potential stars, Meryl Streep is in talks to play the Witch. The film interweaves a number of famous fairy tale characters with the story of a baker and his wife trying to break a curse that renders them unable to have children. The reading included Nina Arianda as The Baker's Wife, Christine Baranski as the Stepmother, Tammy Blanchard as Florinda, Victoria Clark as Cinderella's Mother/Giant, James Corden as the Baker, David Garrison as the Narrator, Ivan Hernandez as the Wolf, Megan Hilty as Lucinda, Cheyenne Jackson as Rapunzel's Prince, Allison Janney as Jack's Mother, Anna Kendrick as Cinderella, Michael McGrath as the Steward/Baker's Father, Donna Murphy as the Witch, Laura Osnes as Rapunzel, Taylor Trensch as Jack, Casey Whyland as Little Red Riding Hood and Patrick Wilson as Cinderella's Prince. The stage version featured lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and direction by James Lapine. [Broadway World]

* Don't look all shocked! You knew a Yogi Bear sequel was coming because the crappy CGI/live-action "comedy" made over $200M. Plus we told you about it last year. Anyway, Warner Bros. has decided on Broken Lizard's Jay Chandrasekhar(Club Dread) to direct and rewrite the script which I'm sure was fabulous. Here's hoping Justin Timberlake is smart enough not to come back and voice Boo-Boo(despite how good he was), although I suspect Dan Akroyd needs the paycheck and will be back as the picnic basket-stealing Yogi.
