New title and release date for 'Finding Nemo' sequel

Not that there was ever any reason to suspect otherwise,  it's become increasingly clear recently that Pixar is more than willing to milk their cash cows for all they're worth. For the most part that hasn't led to too much of a drop off in quality, although many would argue about Cars 2 (I personally enjoyed it). One of the studio's biggest hits was 2003's Finding Nemo, which took in $380M worldwide and made clown fish suddenly very popular. Last summer we learned that a sequel was definitely in the works with Andrew Stanton coming back to direct, along with Ellen Degeneres and Albert Brooks. Now the film has an official title, a plot, and a date for it to swim into theaters.

Titled Finding Dory, the film will open on Thanksgiving weekend, November 25th 2015, and obviously will deal with the blue tang fish voiced by DeGeneres. Taking place a year after the first film, the story is set in part along the California coastline, bringing back old favorites like Nemo, Marlin, and the Tank Gang, while also welcoming a whole sea of new characters who will prove to be very important to Dory's life.

Stanton, who is hoping to bounce back from the John Carter debacle, recognizes just how large a part DeGeneres played in Finding Nemo's success....

Stanton: “There is no Dory without Ellen. She won the hearts of moviegoers all over the world—not to mention our team here at Pixar. One thing we couldn’t stop thinking about was why she was all alone in the ocean on the day she met Marlin. In ‘Finding Dory,’ she will be reunited with her loved ones, learning a few things about the meaning of family along the way.”
