Watch 9 new clips from 'Fast & Furious 6'

 

Just how big is May when it comes to potential blockbuster films? Besides the obvious Iron Man 3 and Star Trek Into Darkness, you've still got Fast & Furious 6 making a hairpin turn into theaters in just a few weeks. Pretty incredible to think that the franchise is bigger and definitely better than ever after being around more than a decade, but it's looking like expectations are soaring for it right now. Universal wants to make sure there's no chance it gets lost in the shuffle, and so they've dropped nine new clips and nearly nine minutes of footage.

What will surprise some by the clips is how much hand-to-hand combat there is rather than simply street racing action. In one scene we see Han (Sung Kang) and the mouthy Roman Pierce (Tyrese Gibson) squaring off Jah, giving The Raid: Redemption's Joe Taslim a chance to show his incredible martial arts skills. Ex-MMA fighter and Haywire star Gina Carano also slugs it out with Michelle Rodriguez in a battle of the two toughest ladies on the big screen. I'm far more interested in watching them brawl than I ever will be watching Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson. Indie fans who (like me) felt Thure Lindhardt was sorely overlooked as a Best Actor nominee for Keep the Lights On (review of that here) will get a kick seeing him questioned by the gorgeous Gal Gadot and Carano.
