Mel Gibson and Antonio Banderas Confirmed for 'The Expendables 3'

So now that he's snared his white whale by getting Harrison Ford for The Expendables 3, Sylvester Stallone is now trying to make everybody forget the other part of that story. Y'know, where he called out Bruce Willis for being "lazy" and "greedy", all over what amounts to between-the-cushions money for these guys. And a good way to get people to move on past the controversy is to confirm two more big names to the cast.

Mel Gibson and Antonio Banderas are now officially on board after being rumored for months.  They'll be moving over straight from Robert Rodriguez's Machete Kills and into Stallone's film, joining other new additions Wesley Snipes, Milla Jojovich, Jackie Chan, Nicolas Cage, Kellan Lutz, Victor Ortiz, and Ronda Rousey in a *snicker* story that has the older crew facing a tech savvy team of youngsters. Gibson will be playing the villain, while Banderas' role remains unclear but I'm sure it will be quite potent emotionally. Or perhaps not.

Directed by Patrick Hughes, The Expendables 3 opens on August 15th 2014. [EW]
