Rodrigo Santoro Eyes 'Focus'; Bobby Cannavale Joins 'Annie'; 'Guardians of the Galaxy' Adds Gregg Henry

* Rodrigo Santoro, who will hit the tanning booth and Charming Charlie's for his role as Xerxes in 300: Rise of an Empire, has joined the crime caper Focus starring Will Smith and Margot Robbie. Written and directed by Glenn Ficara and John Requa (Crazy Stupid Love), the story has Smith as a veteran con man who enters into a romantic fling with a young novice, only to have her turn up years later just as he's planning a major heist in Buenos Aires. Santoro will play a powerful owner of an international race car team. [THR]

* Currently slayin' 'em opposite Cate Blanchett in Woody Allen's Blue Jasmine, Bobby Cannavale has landed another major gig. He'll join the cast of Will Gluck's Annie remake, based on the hit Broadway musical. Starring Quvenzhane Wallis, Jamie Foxx, Cameron Diaz and Rose Byrne, Cannavale will play “a bulldog political advisor to Foxx’s character as he makes a mayoral run in New York.”  Annie opens on Christmas Day 2014.

* Character actor Gregg Henry has taken to Twitter and revealed he has a role in Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy, making this the third James Gunn-directed film he's been a part of after Slither and Super. His role is unclear, and chances are it's not a major Marvel hero, but y'never know. Feel free to start tossing around wild speculation now. Guardians of the Galaxy opens next year August 1st.
