Rumor: John Krasinski to Tame Dinos in 'Jurassic Park IV'?

Now that Jurassic Park 4 is back up and running after a brief delay, director Colin Trevorrow has been chatting it up, basically confirming the film as part of the overcrowded 2015 slate, and that there will be at least one "bad ass" new dinosaur. Honestly there wasn't a whole lot of meat to what he was saying yesterday, although many sites are trying to act as if there was. The real attention-grabber comes from Movieweb today, as they're hearing word that The Office's John Krasinski could be up for a role.

"In June, plot details surfaced from Jurassic Park IV that indicate the actual theme park is up and running. Now we’re hearing that The Office star John Krasinski is up for a role as one of the theme park workers in charge of ‘taming’ some of the dinosaurs."

The role is being compared to that of Dennis Quaid's Mike Brody in Jaws 3D, and aside from comparing Jurassic Park 4 to what is probably the worst film in the Jaws series, the addition of Krasinski would be a pretty good move. He's a likable actor, and a film that has raging dinosaurs chasing after people is going to need plenty of characters we actually care about. More intriguing is this idea of people taming the dinosaurs, because wasn't one of the major lessons of the franchise that nature always "finds a way"? Of course domesticating them is going to terribly wrong all over again. We'll see if this rumor becomes reality when production begins some time in the near future, probably early next year.
