Rumor: Orlando Bloom the Favorite to play Batman?

As expected, Batman rumors are running rampant and some clearly have more credibility than others. They're all interesting, though, even the ones that seem completely absurd. So far the list of rumored names to play Bruce Wayne in Zack Snyder's Superman vs. Batman film all have ties to the director or Warner Bros., and so does the most recent candidate: Orlando Bloom.

In a story about the influx of British actors in American superhero films, the U.K. Express note that Bloom has is the "odds-on" favorite to land the sought after Batman role, with a senior source at the studio quoted as saying...

“Orlando looks odds-on to get the part even before our first casting call. He would be perfect to play off Henry and I think US audiences would be happy with two Brits as the joint male leads.”

Even at 36 years of age, Bloom doesn't seem to have the look of the "older, grizzled" Bruce Wayne that Snyder is looking for, but he does have an obvious connection to WB due to his role as Legolas in the Lord of the Rings films. Bloom has a lot of franchise experience, and may be better suited to another superhero, but Batman doesn't make any sense. He's too frail and too pretty. Maybe he could play Zatanna

The site remains convinced Bloom is the guy,  saying that he is "expected to sign" by autumn before WB  begins casting Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Lantern, Aquaman and the Martian Manhunter for the Justice League film. It's doubtful they'd move on to that film while so much needs to be done to get Superman vs. Batman ready by 2015. Very little of this sounds credible, and I hesitate to call it an outright lie, but we'll see what happens before production begins early next year. Josh Brolin, Ryan Gosling, Joe Manganiello, Matthew Goode, and Jeffrey Dean Morgan are said to be the top choices, but a new face is just as likely to emerge.
