Seth Gordon Exits 'Horrible Bosses 2'; Kate Winslet Confirmed for 'The Dressmaker'; Judy Greer Eyes 'Tomorrowland'
* Ironically, Horrible Bosses 2 is now in need of a new boss. Earlier this year we learned that Jason Bateman, Jason Sudeikis, Charlie Day, and director Seth Gordon had all agreed on a sequel to their surprising $200M hit, but it's been quiet on that front ever since. But with a fall shoot right around the corner, they'll have to find a new helmer as Gordon has left the project, sighting schedule conflicts with his upcoming ABC TV sitcom, The Goldbergs. The search for a new director is on, and THR says interest in the job is "strong", which shouldn't be at all surprising. Perhaps they'll turn to returning screenwriters John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein, as they're already set to make their directorial debuts on the Vacation remake.
* One of the films making the investor rounds at Cannes a couple of months ago was The Dressmaker, which garnered a lot of attention due to Kate Winslet being attached to the stylish thriller. With financing secured a start date planned for 2014, Winslet has now been confirmed, joined by screen veteran Judy Davis. Described by director Jocelyn Moorhouse as "Unforgiven with a sewing machine), the film centers on Tilly, a talented couturier who as a child was accused of murder and flees her Australian hometown for Europe. Years later she comes back home looking for a measure of revenge.
* Judy Greer must love working with George Clooney, having starred with him in Three Kings and The Descandants, because she's now set to join him in Tomorrowland. Greer is being sought to co-star alongside Clooney, Hugh Laurie, Thomas Robinson, Raffey Cassidy, and Britt Robertson in the secretive film, directed by Brad Bird and based on a Damon Lindelof script. Details on the plot remain under wraps, but it may center on a teenage girl, a genius middle-aged man and a pre-pubescent girl robot who must save Tomorrowland from disaster. Tomorrowland hits theaters on December 19th 2014.
