Will Smith may have dropped a dud earlier this year with After Earth, but that doesn't mean he's straying far from the sci-fi genre. Last fall we learned he was eying yet another film, titled Selling Time, and a number of A-list directors were circling it. Now one has been found with Eagle Eye and I Am Number Four helmer DJ Caruso coming aboard.
Caruso, who most recently went against-type and directed the coming-of-age flick Standing Up, will take on the film about a man who gives up seven years of life expectancy to relive the single worst day of his life. As for Smith, he's still not locked in for the lead role even though he's been interested in quite awhile. Spike Lee and numerous other writers have given the script a pass, but now original scribe Dan McDermott is back on to try and punch it up to Smith's expectations.
Smith will be seen next in heist flick, Focus, alongside Margot Robbie. [Deadline]
