Edgar Wright's 'Ant-Man' Homework Hints at Hank Pym and Scott Lang
When Edgar Wright walked on the Comic-Con floor back in 2012 to hype Marvel's Ant-Man, he carried with him a copy of Marvel Premiere #47, titled 'To Steal an Ant-Man'. We've always known that Wright loves that particular story and has wanted to adapt it, and this seemed like confirmation that he planned to base his film on it. The thing is, that story contains two different men under the helmet: Hank Pym, and future hero Scott Lang. With Paul Rudd now confirmed for the film's lead, there's still some question who he will be playing.
Edgar Wright took to his blog and revealed he was doing "homework" for the movie, posting the above image from the Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes episode based on 'To Steal an Ant-Man'. In that story, much like in the comics, Lang steals Pym's Ant-Man armor and uses it for personal gain before deciding to go down a more heroic path.
So what clues does this offer as to Rudd's role? None, but it's more evidence that we can probably expect to see both Scott Lang and Hank Pym, which means there's still a major role out there yet to be cast. Maybe fans will get Nathan Fillion in the Ant-Man suit, after all?
Ant-Man hits theaters on July 31st 2015.
