Rupert Friend Replaces Paul Walker in 'Hitman' Reboot, 'Agent 47'
The impact of Paul Walker's death continues to reverberate throughout Hollywood, and now it's being felt on a project he joined early last year. Walker had been set to lead Agent 47, a big screen reboot of the Hitman franchise, based on the best-selling video game. The project is still moving forward, and now a replacement for Walker has been found in Rupert Friend.
Friend is probably best known for his award-nominated performance on Showtime's Homeland, but he's also been good in films such as The Young Victoria and The Boy in the Striped Pajamas. The original Hitman movie was seven years ago and starred Timothy Olyphant as the mysterious bar-coded assassin.
Walker had planned on going straight into Agent 47 after he was wrapped on Fast & Furious 7, but there's no word on when production will begin now. When it kicks into gear it will be Aleksander Bachat the helm, directing from a script by the returning Skip Woods. [TheWrap]
