Emma Thompson and Nick Offerman Take 'A Walk In the Woods'

Production begins today on the long-developing adaptation of Bill Bryson's humorous memoir, A Walk In the Woods, which Robert Redford has been attached to for nearly a decade. At one time Redford was to star as Bryson alongside Paul Newman with Barry Levinson, Richard Linklater, and Chris Columbus all briefly attached to direct at different points. But ultimately it's Nick Nolte co-starring with Ken Kwapis (Big Miracle) at the helm, and now a few more  big names have come aboard.

Emma Thompson, Nick Offerman, and Kristen Schaal have joined the film which features by Oscar-winning screenwriter Michael Arndt. The story follows Bryson, an aging travel writer who decides to make the 2,000-mile high along the Appalachian Trail accompanied by his estranged, overweight high school buddy. Along the way they face off with one another, battle nature, and encounter a number of eccentric characters.

Might we see this one at Sundance next year, or on the festival circuit later in 2014?
