New Images and Five Clips from 'Godzilla'

By now a handful of top critics have had a chance to experience Gareth Edwards' Godzilla, and while they aren't allowed to reveal their thoughts on it just yet, some early word is beginning to sneak out. For some, the return of the legendary screen monster is one of the most anticipated events of the summer, and apparently even when the film arrives audiences will be waiting awhile for Godzilla to appear on screen. That should have been obvious just based on the marketing campaign that has kept Godzilla largely out of view, but now there's some confirmation of it.

So it seems as if this Godzilla movie will be more of a pot boiler, a tension-filled horror movie rather than just a straight-up disaster film, and we get more of a sense of that in five new clips and some newly released images. The cast is superb with Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen, Ken Watanabe, Bryan Cranson, Sally Hawkins, Juliette Binoche, and David Strathairn all on board to survive the creature's rampage. For me the image of Strathairn and Watanabe together

Godzilla opens on May 16th.
