Rebel Wilson Recruited for the 'Private Benjamin' Remake

It's been years but Hollywood has not stopped in its quest to remake Goldie Hawn's classic1980 comedy, Private Benjamin. The last anyone heard about it was a few years ago when Anna Faris was briefly set for the lead role, although it always seemed more logical to me to just have Kate Hudson do it. Whatever the case, nothing ever came to pass and now the project is reborn with Rebel Wilson in the title role.

Wilson is the only one officially attached to the big screen reboot which will follow a  "redneck (Wilson) and a rich city girl who get more than they bargained for when they enlist in the Marines to escape their present situations." Sounds perfect for Wilson and it will be interesting to see who they get to star opposite her. The original film was one that went a long way in launching Hawn's career, and not that Wilson needs the boost but it couldn't hurt, especially if her sitcom Super Fun Night gets the ax.

A director still needs to be found and there's nothing on who is writing the script, so don't expect to see this one for awhile. Wilson will begin filming on Pitch Perfect 2 next.
