Watch Colin Farrell and Jessica Chastain in the New Trailer for 'Miss Julie'

Let's talk about Jessica Chastain for a moment because she's having arguably her best year yet; even better than when Zero Dark Thirty and The Help earned her Oscar nominations. This year we've already had a chance to see her in the grounded drama The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby (which is technically three separate movies!), Christopher Nolan's Interstellar, and soon she'll star in JC Chandor's anticipated crime drama A Most Violent Year. And yet that's not all, and those who really dig Chastain will also want to seek out her performance in Miss Julie.

Directed by Liv Ullmann and co-starring Colin Farrell, the film has Chastain as an aristocrat's daughter who enters a torrid, if mutually loathsome affair with her valet. The power struggle, one fueled by equal parts hatred and lust, threatens to consume them both. A new U.S. trailer for the film has arrived and the passion between Chastain and Farrell is palpable, and it looks like commanding performances from both.

Miss Julie opens December 5th.

New Trailer for 'Miss Julie' Starring Jessica Chastain and Colin Farrell

As one is possibly heading to True Detective, and another is taking off in Christopher Nolan's Interstellar, it's safe to say Colin Farrell and Jessica Chastain are on an upward swing. The two will have a chance to butt heads, and bump some other parts of their bodies too, in Liv Ullmann's period drama Miss Julie. As the film gears up for the Toronto International Film Festival a new trailer for it has been released.

Chastain stars as the titular aristocrat who uses her social status and sexuality to attract the attentions of her valet (Farrell), and the volatile affair that emerges threatens to consume everyone, including his fiancee played by Samantha Morton. This is a movie about power first and foremost, and the various forms it can take, but thankfully it doesn't look sleazy like Fifty Shades of Grey.

Miss Julie has yet to gain a distributor or release date but expect that to change soon.

Colin Farrell Kisses Jessica Chastain's Shoe in First Trailer for 'Miss Julie'

Jessica Chastain, the model of quiet strength and elegance in many of her performances, gets downright nasty in the first trailer for Liv Ullmann's Miss Julie, which is set to make its world premiere as part of the Toronto International Film Festival. She stars alongside a breathy and very randy Colin Farrell in the adaptation of August Strindberg's 1888 play about social class and sexual power.

Set in 19th-century Ireland over the course of one evening, the vain and haughty daughter of an Irish count enters a steamy love affair with her father's top valet. While she wields with strength her aristocratic position, forcing him to kiss her feet in one scene, as a man he too has certain powers, and the struggle between them looks to get very heated.  Samantha Morton co-stars as Farrell's fiancee.

No distribution for this one yet but that will likely change very soon.

First Looks at Jessica Chastain in 'Miss Julie' and 'A Most Violent Year'

Last year was something of a rest period for Jessica Chastain, with only the horror film Mama hitting theaters. But that's all about to change in 2014 as Christopher Nolan's Interstellar arrives, plus the twin-bill romance The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby. And that doesn't count filming on Guillermo Del Toro's Crimson Peak. But she's also got two more movies on the way in Liv Ullman's Miss Julie and A Most Violent Year from All is Lost director, J.C. Chandor, and we've now got first looks at both of them.

First up is Miss Julie, Ullmann's adaptation of August Strindberg's 19th century play about the flirtatious affair between the aristocratic Julie and her ambitious valet, with issues of power and class driving their love/hate relationship. Chastain gets to spend some steamy time with Colin Farrell, while Samantha Morton co-stars as Farrell's fiance. There's no release date yet but maybe we'll catch Miss Julie on the art house scene.

After hitting it big with Margin Call and All is Lost, J.C. Chandor isn't letting the grass grow under his feet. He's already hard at work on A Most Violent Year, a thriller starring Chastain, Oscar Isaac, Albert Brooks, David Oyelowo, Catalina Sandino Moreno, and Alfred Molina. Set in 1981, one of the most violent years in New York City history, the film follows an immigrant family trying to expand their business in the face of rampant violence and corruption that threatens to destroy them. Bradford Young, cinematographer on Ain't Them Bodies Saints and Pariah, also filmed this so we know the blonde Chastain will look more gorgeous than usual. Expect A Most Violent Year to arrive this fall.
