Tap Out to a New 'Pro Wrestlers vs. Zombies' Trailer Starring Kurt Angle and "Rowdy" Roddy Piper

It's been nearly a year since we put up the trailer for Pro Wrestlers vs. Zombies, and even back then the claim was that it was coming to theaters soon. So far that hasn't happened and chances are it never will, but at least there's a new trailer with more ankle snapping undead action.

Ring grapplers Shane Douglas, Terry Funk, "Rowdy" Roddy Piper, "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan, Terry Funk, Matt Hardy, and Reby Sky star in the film, which has an actual plot!! Sort of! It involves indie wrestler Ashton Amherst seeking revenge on Douglas for killing his brother during a match, going about it by calling up a zombie horde to attack his friends and family. Sounds like a storyline Vince McMahon totally would have used in the early '90s. Can you honestly tell me it's any less insane than some of those old Undertaker angles when he was buried alive?

Pro Wrestlers vs. Zombies is directed by Cody Knotts, who launched a successful Kickstarter campaign to fund the film. You can actually pre-order a copy of the DVD to be released next month.

"Rowdy" Roddy Piper, Kurt Angle, and more in the crazy 'Pro Wrestlers vs. Zombies' trailer

To get a good idea just how far professional wrestling has evolved over the last thirty years, one need look no further than the number of movies that feature some of its biggest superstars. Hulk Hogan and "Rowdy" Roddy Piper helped lead the charge into Hollywood years ago, but now you have the WWE developing major productions with A-list stars. Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is one of the most bankable and sought after actors around. But most notably you have a flood of cheaply produced films like Pro Wrestlers vs. Zombies. That's right. Pro Wrestlers vs. Zombies. Prepare for a shot of head-bashin', ankle-bustin' insanity with the undead.

Starring the aforementioned Piper, along with Matt Hardy, his girlfriend Reby Sky, Kurt Angle, the awesome Shane Douglas, Scott "Raven" Levy, and other legends like "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan and Terry Funk, the film is just as silly as the title suggests it should be. With copious amounts of "Good Old American Violence", gore, and punk rock music, the film harkens back to the Rock 'n Wrestling days of the 1980s where most of these grapplers had their moments to shine. Whether Piper gets a chance to spout iconic dialogue like "kick ass and chew bubblegum" like he did in They Live is still up in the air, but we do get to see what happens when Angle applies his signature Ankle Lock submission to a zombie's brittle bones.

Directed by Cody Knotts and funded by his successful Kickstarter campaign, Pro Wrestlers vs. Zombies obviously isn't aiming to be The Wrestler, but it looks a damn sight better than Ready to Rumble!
