James Cameron Readying Another Sci-Fi Epic?
Production Weekly reported via their Twitter feed that James Cameron is set to springboard from his upcoming sci-fi epic, Avatar, straight into another massive sci-fi adventure scripted by Shane Salerno(Armageddon, Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem). They describe it as an "event film" set in the near. Whatever that means. An event film might as well describe all James Cameron films. That tells us nothing.
Salerno sold a script to Fox last year titled Doomsday Protocol, which is rumored to possibly be the project Cameron is developing. It's described as "an epic science fiction adventure in the vein of The Seven Samurai involving a group of aliens and humans with various abilities who are brought together to save Earth.”
No word on whether Cameron will be helming the project or just involved in some other capacity. Whatever it is, it'll be huge, because when was the last time James Cameron made a small film? Never? Good answer.
Slashfilm has more on the story right here.
