Green Lantern Finds it's Nemesis!

Green Lantern is really starting to round into shape. With Ryan Reynolds already cast in the title role, it was imperative to surround him with cast equally versatile as he. Last week WB saw fit to add Blake Lively to the role of Carol Ferris, Hal Jordan's sometime girlfriend and future supervillain, Star Sapphire. Now it appears they've found who Green Lantern will be going toe-to-toe with. THR is reporting that WB has nabbed Peter Saarsgard for the role, but not as Sinestro as people suspected. Instead he'll be playing Hector Hammond, a petty criminal son of a United States senator who deliberately exposes himself to a meteor, granting himself evolved intelligence and psionic abilities. The meteor also causes his brain to swell to the size of a small planet.

Sinestro is still set to be a part of the film, but assuming the story sticks close to the comics, he and Green Lantern won't start off as enemies. It's probably that his turn towards the dark side will be an integral part of the plot, set to explode in the inevitable sequel. No word yet as to who will play Sinestro, although Jackie Earle Haley(Watchmen) remains a frontrunner.

Peter Saarsgard is one of my favorite actors. He's great at playing smarmy, stuck up-types, and Hammond certainly fits that description.
