Remember a few days ago when I posted the news that WB execs were really amping up the progress on their tentpole superhero franchises? Superman in particular? It looks like we're starting to see that come to pass. Deadline.com is reporting that Warner Bros. has tapped Christopher Nolan to help "oversee" the upcoming Superman project. While it's not exactly clear what Nolan will be doing, it doesn't at this stage involve writing or directing. Likely it means he'll be doing some script revisions, injecting occasional plot refinements, going over shooting techniques, etc. It's the first real positive step in the production of a Superman film since Superman Returns tanked.
Deadline also insists that Jonathan Nolan and David Goyer are already hard at work on the script to Batman 3, which Christopher Nolan will help finish while also completing his next film, Inception.
It's good to see that WB has finally got off their ass and made a hard decision regarding Superman. Although part of me still believes that the red & blue boyscout just doesn't fit in today's world of gritty, ground level superheroes. The news about Batman 3 is what really gets me goin', though. I know I'm not in the minority by saying that I loved both Batman films, but for me it has to do with having another opportunity to see more of Christopher Nolan's wizardry behind the camera. I've loved literally every movie he's made and eagerly await any chance to see more.
