For months, ever since the first time Nick Fury showed his eyepatched face at the end of Iron Man, then Tony Stark showed up to talk shop with Thunderbolt Ross at the end of The Incredible Hulk, eager fans have been wondering just how far the expanded Marvel film universe would extend. With Captain America, Thor, and Iron Man 2 around the corner and leading up to the Joss Whedon directed Avengers film, it's pretty much a certainty that we'll start seeing more heroes showing up in eachother's films.
Slashfilm translated a story from the Italian website, Bad Taste, that all but confirms the presence of at least two other Marvel heroes showing up in an Easter Egg in this summer's Iron Man sequel. The translation is below...
A 100% trusted source (NOT from the production/distribution, but very familiar with the movie) confirmed us today that there will be an easter egg in IM2. It’s an extra scene, just like the one in the first movie, after the end credits. We are able to tell you what’s about! It’s a scene about… Captain America and Thor! Maybe this doesn’t seem a big reveal, but it’s nice to have a confirmation.
Some have already started to interpet this as meaning we'll actually be seeing Cap or the thunder god in the actual movie itself, but I seriously doubt that. It's just a little too soon for that. Not only was Chris Evans just signed to play Cap like two weeks ago, but Iron Man is pretty much already wrapped up. Not that going back and shooting additional footage to include Cap and Thor is impossible, it's just highly unlikely. It's probable that it will be another scene, with Nick Fury involved, that will simply discuss the presence of gods on Earth(Thor) and perhaps the discovery of the iceblock containing Captain America.
Regardless, those scenes are always cool, and anything further tying these movies together is even moreso.
