I love Rachel Weisz. To me, there is no better, more beautiful and elegant actress working today. So it makes sense that her husband, director Darren Aronofsky, would look towards her to star as Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis in a biopic chronicling the days following the assassination of her husband, John F. Kennedy.
The project was formerly being developed by Steven Spielberg, with the possibility of it being acquired by HBO as a major feature on their network. However Spielberg no longer appears to be attached, and now it's looking like this will be a big budget, theatrical affair.
You can't go wrong with Weisz, and frankly I couldn't imagine another actress being better in the role. She and her husband have worked together before, in the 2006 metaphysical drama The Fountain, which to be was slower than drizzling tree sap in winter. Despite that, Aronofsky is a favorite of mine, having helmed two of my favorite films of the last decade, Requiem for a Dream and The Wrestler.
