Logan's Run remake Finds Director

He might've been shoved out of a chance to direct the Alien prequel that Ridley Scott ended up helming, but I think Carl Erik Rinsch just scored an even bigger opportunity. Heatvision is reporting that Rinsch is in talks to direct a remake of Logan's Run, the seminal 1976 sci-fi flick about a dystopian future where overpopulation is curtailed by killing anyone who reaches the age of 30.  Those who ran were deemed "runners" and were chased down by agents known as "Sandmen".

The film was based on a book by William F. Nolan and George Clayton Johnson, and starred Michael York as a former Sandman turned runner. Akiva Goldsman and Joel Silver are producing the feature, with Warner Brothers housing the project. Bryan Singer had once been attached, but bolted in order to direct a really crappy film called Superman Returns. You might've heard of it.

I was one of the few who actually wanted to see Rinsch's take on Alien, but this might be a more interesting project visually.  No other info at this point since it's pretty much in the planning stages. A  new writer will be brought on board to pen a fresh draft, but expect details to start dropping pretty quickly after that.
