The Sunday Drive: 6/20/10

3. The Karate Kid
Whoever would've thought that the combination of Jackie Chan and Jaden Smith could measure up to that of Ralph Macchio and the Oscar nominated Pat Morita? Certainly not me, but they both are the central reason why this remake of the 1984 classic retains all the heart and power of the original.

2. The A-Team
Whether you were a fan of the TV series or not, The A-Team is the summer's first great popcorn action flick. An unrelenting assault on the senses, The A-team is the perfect combination of explosive action and comedy.

1. Toy Story 3
Quite possibly a perfect movie, the rare example of a threequel that outdoes its predecessors. Pixar has somehow managed to up the ante, bringing back Woody, Buzz, and the rest of the gang for their biggest adventure yet. Amazing in every conceivable way, Toy Story 3 is not only the funniest movie I've seen this year, but I'll put some of the action up against anything else. Drop everything and see this right now.

DVD Pick of the Week: Youth in Revolt
It's not often that we get to see Michael Cera's wild side come out, but in Youth in Revolt he sheds the ultra sensitive routine and embraces his inner demon. One of the funniest films of the year, Cera stars as Nick Twisp, a shy brainiac who falls for the hot chick in town. The problem? She's into bad boys. French bad boys. In a desperate bid to win her over, Nick  transforms himself into Francois, and things quite literally start to heat up.
