Trailer Time: Jack Black in Gulliver's Travels

Jonathan Swift is rolling in his grave right now. I'm a huge fan of the classic Gulliver's Travels story, particularly how Gulliver's time with the diminutive Lillputians hardens his attitude towards humanity. I don't think that's going to be an issue in this updated, modern version of the story, starring Jack Black in the title role. He plays a travel writer who takes an assignment in Bermuda, but winds up on the island of Lilliput, populated by a race of people the size of a thimble.

Judging by this first trailer, it looks like more bland easy humor in the mold of Year One or Land of the Lost. Even though I can barely stand to watch Jack Black, the supporting cast is pretty strong. Jason Segal, Amanda Peet, Emily Blunt(!!!), and Billy Connolly are all aiding and abetting this potential crime against comedy.  Rob Letterman(Shark Tale) is directing, with the film set to hit theaters on December 22nd, 2010.

Maybe I'm being too hard on it, so check out the trailer and let me know what you think.
