Cage Signs on for Ghost Rider sequel

Back in April it was reported that Sony Pictures was pushing ahead with a sequel to 2007's Ghost Rider, despite it being something of a flaming(pun intended) turd. At the time it seemed like star Nicolas Cage might not be returning, and the project smelled like it was destined for straight-to-DVD Hell. But in June we got word that the Crank duo of Neveldine and Taylor were in talks to direct the film, based on the story by David Goyer(Blade, Batman Begins). Cage also entered early discussions to return, and suddenly Ghost Rider was alight again.

On The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, Cage revealed that he has indeed signed on to reprise his role as Johnny Blaze in what is tentatively titled Ghost Rider: The Spirit of Vengeance, and that Neveldine/Taylor will be in tow.

Cage's absence would've made this film a non-starter, so it's good to have him back in the fold. Well...it's good if you're anxiously awaiting another helping of Ghost Rider. Which I'm not. Ghost Rider was a financial success despite poor reviews, making over $228M worldwide.
