I have to admit, I'm sorta anxious to hear what big announcements regarding the Superman reboot will be dropped during Comic-Con. One of the cool things about the event is that certain franchises MUST make a big splash. In fact, sometimes it's more important to make that splash, and then if any of it falls through later hopefully nobody will remember. To get the ball rolling, The Playlist has some big time Supes rumors, one which confirms something we heard a couple weeks ago, and a couple of older chestnuts as well...
Apparently Christopher Nolan's brother, Jonathan, is the frontrunner to direct the film. The other name on the list is David Goyer. The reason? Warner Brothers wants a single writer/director to control the project to help cut costs. Both Goyer and Nolan are involved with the script, so it makes sense. Neither of those choices is very intriguing to me. Goyer is a better writer than director, while Nolan hasn't done anything at all. Chris is said to be very much in favor of his brother getting the gig. Well...duh.
Remember that old rumor about the Wachowski Brothers being offered Superman? Turns out it was true, only they passed on it. Now that I would've killed to see. Hey, they made a character like Speed Racer interesting, so why not boring old Superman?
Also, a script is rumored to have already reached Warner Brothers, and they are said to be "blown away" by it. I'm assuming "blown away" means they liked it, but they could've just as easily been thrown for a loop over how terrible it was. We'll know if they start pushing ahead with casting, which I'm hoping is what we're going to hear about over the next couple of days.
