Total Recall remake finds director

For some reason, a remake of Total Recall never crossed my mind. For a sci-fi film that is memorable to so many, I've always been sorta lukewarm to it. My most vivid memory is the evil Copenhaagen getting his face sucked in due to decompression. And I think someone has three boobs. Maybe I'm thinking of a different movie. I think I need a Total Recall refresher course. Whatever the case may be, Total Recall was a certifiable hit, banking over $260M worldwide.  Columbia Pictures is hoping to recapture some of that magic.

Len Wiseman(Underworld) has been hired to direct the film based on a script by Kurt Wimmer(Ultraviolet). It's being described as a contemporary adaptation of the Philip K. Dick source material, "We Can Remember it for You Wholesale".

Wiseman's only real claim to fame are the first two Underworld films, which I thought showed he had a firm hand for action, but little else. The real wild card for me is Wimmer's script, who has been hit or miss a lot of the time. He penned the script for the recent Angelina Jolie actioner, Salt, and my favorite Pierce Brosnan flick, The Thomas Crown Affair. But then again he also wrote Ultraviolet and Equillibrium, two movies I would be very happy to never see again.
