Hilary Duff reading for role in Spider-Man?

I'm not gonna spend much time on this because to write too much about it is to invite it to actually occur. Which would be a nightmare. Latino Review(along with Globe and Mail) are reporting that pop starlet Hilary Duff has been sent copies of the script for Mark Webb's Spider-Man reboot and is currently reading for a role marked as "Girl". This is likely the character that will turn out to be Peter Parker's love interest throughout the film and the franchise. Nobody knows whether that will turn out to be Mary Jane Watson, Gwen Stacy, or somebody else.

A list of contenders was leaked last month which included such names as Emma Roberts, Mary Elizabeth Winstead,  and Teresa Palmer. Whether or not those names have all been tested and passed on isn't known at this point. God I hope not.

Hey, let her read it all she wants. Send her a dozen copies to read as far as I'm concerned. Just don't hire her. Andrew Garfield is a remarkable actor and I don't want to see him having to dial it back because some pop princess can't keep up. I've seen Material Girls. I know what she's capable of.(not much)
