Sure Shots: Neeson joins Battleship; X-men: First Class; Michael Caine

A few quick casting notes...

* Veteran actor Liam Neeson(Kinsey) has joined the cast of board game adaptation, Battleship. This makes Neeson the old man on deck amongst the youth skewing cast consisting of Alexander Skarsgard(True Blood), Taylor Kitsch(X-men Origins: Wolverine), Brooklyn Decker(Ugly Betty), and Rhianna. He'll be playing Admiral Shane, father to Decker's character.

* Laurence Belcher has been cast as the youngest version of Charles Francis Xavier in X-men: First Class. James McAvoy is playing the older(but still not yet old) version of the X-men founder. The only thing I know of that Belcher appeared in was the direct-to-DVD sequel, Messengers 2: The Scarecrow.

* I love Michael Caine, but he's like the geriatric Samuel L. Jackson. He'll agree to anything it seems. Now he's negotiating for a major role in Journey to the Center of the Earth 2: The Mysterious Island. This follows on the heels of the recent addition of Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. Caine will be tackling the role of the grandfather of Josh Hutcherson's character.
