Tom Hardy as Harvey Bullock in The Dark Knight Rises?

We've known for a few weeks now that Tom Hardy has a role in Christopher Nolan's newly christened The Dark Knight Rises, but we haven't known exactly who he'd be playing. I, like probably most people, assumed he'd be the bad guy. Killer Croc, Bane, The Riddler....whoever. But what if that's not the case? What if he's actually a cop? A severely screwed up, butthole of a cop, but a good guy nonetheless?

IMDB has updated their cast list for the upcoming Batman flick, and they have Tom Hardy rumored to be Detective Harvey Bullock. Think of Bullock as sortof like J. Jonah Jameson of the police force. He's not a huge fan of Batman or his methods, but he's fiercely supportive of his boss, Commission Jim Gordon(played by Gary Oldman in the flicks). Bullock has a ton of personal demons that he fights with constantly. This could be one heck of a meaty role, perfect for the well-rounded Hardy to knock out of the park.

Whether or not to trust IMDB's listing is the question. They were spot on with the Captain America casting, but as Hilary Swank recently let us know, sometimes it's a wild misfire.
