Fairy tale flicks continue to be all the rage lately. I'm still quietly hoping for a
Fables movie, but until that happens I'll just have to settle for the slew of
Snow White flicks currently in development. The one that seems to be proceeding the fastest also sounds like the coolest, Snow White and the Huntsman. Based on a script by Evan Daugherty(he of the much hyped He-Man project titled '
Grayskull'), the film would essentially be a chase film, with the evil queen hiring a huntsman to track down and kill Snow White. But when he finds her, he decides to go off on the run with her. Think
The Bounty Hunter
, only less comedic and with more woodland creatures.
With Universal pushing the project into high gear, Rupert Sanders has been brought on to direct. This would be his directorial debut, and he's already got a heck of a potential cast in the offing. Tom Hardy, who is riding a wave of high demand ever since his turn in Christopher Nolan's
Inception
, is in talks for the role of Eric the huntsman.
JustJared.com is reporting that Charlize Theron has been signed for the role of the evil queen. Whether or not that turns out to be true remains to be seen. No word on who'll snag the lead role of Snow White.
I'd love to see Olivia Thirlby get it, but then again I nominate her for everything.
