Tron 3 details revealed?

Just a couple of weeks ago there was the rumor, perpetuated by Aint It Cool News, that information on Tron 3 was soon to be released. Turns out they might've been right, as Harry Knowles again has the scoop that the upcoming Tron Legacy DVD/Blu-Ray will include some teasers for the presumed threequel. With Legacy reeling in over $330M for Disney worldwide, the film has been pretty much assured, and the teasers seem to give us a pretty good idea of what the next movie will entail...


If you've seen Tron Legacy then you probably know where a sequel would be headed, but if you haven't, you might want to come back and catch up on this stuff later so nothing gets spoiled. Basically, Cillian Murphy's cameo as the arrogant Ed Dillinger Jr. wasn't for nothing, and his role is likely to be expanded signifcantly. The scene is said to involve Ed and his father discussing how their plans were proceeding.

Tron Legacy left so many doors open for a sequel that none of this should come as a surprise. Although AICN also reports that these teasers were shot before the movie was released, I think it's almost a certainty that we'll see Tron 3. So far there's no official release date scheduled for the United States, although expect it to be somewhere close to the UK release of April 11th.
