Charlize Theron joins Ridley Scott's ' Prometheus; film "absolutely" connected to Alien
Her presence in Ridley Scott's Prometheus has been rumored for weeks, but now it looks like Charlize Theron is finally locked in to join the much-hyped sci-fi flick. No word on exactly what role she'll be playing, but she's the other female lead opposite Noomi Rapace(The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo). Michael Fassbender is the only other cast member confirmed at this point, playing an adroid probably some sort of pre-cursor to Bishop(played by Lance Henriksen in Aliens).
How can I make that Bishop connection if Prometheus is an all new story? Ever since we were first told that the Alien prequel was a thing of the past to be replaced by a completely new film called Prometheus, we've heard nothing but the complete opposite. Scott himself said that the movie would have "Alien DNA", which most of us took to mean some thematic elements would remain. Instead it appears that he meant it literally, and that the DNA of the alien creatures is a focal point of the story. Now Michael Fassbender has confirmed in a conversation with MTV, that Prometheus and Alien are definitely connected...
So looks like we were sold a bill of good on Prometheus being a new, separate flick. This tempers my excitement just a little bit, but the cast is simply too good to ignore.
