Unstoppable
Tony Scott and Denzel Washington must have a thing about trains. After the slow crawl that was The Taking of Pelham 123, the duo jump back into the conductor's seat with Unstoppable. Paired up with young hot shot Chris Pine as a, well, a young hot shot, Denzel must put the brakes on a runaway train full of explosive material headed straight for a busy city.  A little formulaic, but the intensity of the final moments can't be denied.








Waiting for "Superman"
In Inconvenient Truth director, Davis Guggenheim, turns his documentary lens on an equally terrifying disaster, that of America's school system. Following five bright students who are both helped and hindered by the system as it stands today, the film has gained special interest here in DC thanks to the presence of controversial ex-school chancellor Michelle Rhee.









Summer Wars
From the director of The Girl Who Leapt Through Time comes his equally amazing follow-up, Summer Wars. When a powerful hacker invades the global network known as Oz, it's up to socially awkward math nerd Kenji to come to the rescue. Aided in his quest by his pseudo-girlfriend and her eccentric family, Kenji must put aside his fears in order to save the world. A must buy for anime fans.








You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger

The centerpiece of this laugh-deprived romantic comedy from Woody Allen is a crackpot clairvoyant, trying to convince an older woman(played by Gemma Jones) that her knight in shining armor is right around the corner.  A better use of her psychic abilities might've been to warn against participating in another of Allen's throwaway movies featuring antiquated dialogue and ancient notions of romance. Somebody push this dude into the 21st century, please!

Game of Death

It's Wesley Snipes doing what he does best. Fast paced, 90s style action(hey I still love Passenger 57!) set in a variety of different locations. That's good enough for a rental as far as I'm concerned.

Stag Night

Kip Pardue(The Rules of Attraction) and Breckin Meyer(Garfield) make for an entertaining pair of D-List actors in a film I'm only mentioning because Amazon suggested it to me due to my liking I Spit On Your Grave.
