Shane Black to direct Iron Man 3

Good news, indeed! Deadline is reporting that Shane Black is in final talks to take over the director gig on Iron Man 3. The popular writer of the Lethal Weapon franchise has been a favorite to take over the job since it was first reported of his possible involvement last week. Marvel Studios has been searching for a name that would appeal to fans in the same way Jon Favreau's did. Favreau recently left to direct Magic Kingdom for Walt Disney Pictures.

Now the only question is if Black will write the script. He's only directed one film, 2005's Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, which featured Robert Downey Jr. in a role a lot of people credit for helping get his career back on track. Black's best known for his writing, which has always been crazy smart and snappy as Hell. I can only imagine what he could do with Tony Stark.
