The Sunday Drive: 2/13/11

3. Cedar Rapids
Ed Helms sobers up from The Hangover and jumps right into the exciting world of insurance sales! In Cedar Rapids he stars as naive salesman, Tim Lippe, forced out of his small town Wisconsin roots and into that mecca of wild debauchery....Iowa.  It's a weekend of drugs, alcohol, sex, and occasional violence the likes of which Tim will never forget.
2. The Mechanic
Jason Statham and Ben Foster make for an unlikely pair of hitmen in Simon West's adrenaline-fueled vengeance thriller. The best film West has done since Con Air, and a welcome change from Jason Statham's Crank and The Transporter franchises.

1. Gnomeo and Juliet
Romeo and Juliet has never been so much fun. Ok, I know that's sorta the point of a tragedy and all, but director Kelly Asbury(Shrek 2) has found a way to make Shakespeare's classic drama enlightening and enjoyable for kids and adults alike. Combining the pin point voice talents of James McAvoy and Emily Blunt with beautiful animation and real world sound effects, this is a perfect way to introduce a little bit of culture into your kids' lives. Best garden gnome movie ever!

DVD Pick of the Week: I Spit on Your Grave
Let's face it, most people are never going to give this movie a chance. I can't really blame them. The 1978 original is one of the most despised movies ever, featuring graphic scenes of rape and violence, leading to it being banned in many countries. The remake is a totally different beast, maintaining the horrific violence without taking glory in it's presentation. Featuring a much improved cast, I Spit On Your Grave is pure exploitation, a grindhouse flick for those that can stomach some of the most shocking brutality.
