Just for clarification a montage, in my opinon, has to do three things:
- Be set to music, preferably a pop song of the era.
- Show someone doing something in a span of time that is not possible in a world without montages.
- The intent must be genuine, meaning you will not fine the Team America montage on this list.
10. The Naked Gun: From The Files of Police Squad
I know, i know, this violates rule #3 but I think that in the crazy world which this movie resides this IS genuine. Plus it's Leslie Nielsen so he gets a pass
9.Teen Wolf
This one ALMOST didn't make it on the simple principal that it does not show one person who appears to have the ability to actually PLAY basketball. Ahh the magic of Hollywood. It did make the list however because the song rocks, and who doesn't love Micheal J. Fox
8.Revenge of the Nerds
Bad news kiddos...YouTube has failed me and there is no clip of the cleaning up the house montage from this amazing flick.....however so as not to give it this highest of honor I have picked another montage-ish clip that will have you reveling in the nerdery
7.Never Back Down
This movie gets no love, and really it should. The only "modern" movie on the list featuring the blastin' backtrack by Red Jumpsuit Apparatus. This particular clip possibly should be higher on the list because they brought back the training montage without reeking of 80's cheese.
6.The Monster Squad
The movie that introduced me to my beloved horror icons, The Monster Squad is a must see...just be prepared for a little cheese on your burger.
5.Ghostbusters
Fake news headlines, happy civilians, possibly the BEST theme song in history, and even Larry King...they don't get much better than this folks. Why do you think everyone now knows just who they would call?
4.Scarface
So some jackrabbit slim decided to disable embedding on the only copy of the movie scene that can be found on youtube, the above video is the song and images...gives the same effect but for the full video GO HERE
The rise of Tony Montana could not have been displayed in a better way. This video, shows the worst of the 80's drug trade backed by an amazingly catchy song. I don't know what's worse, that this guy was able to bring literally BAGS of money into a bank to be laundered...or that this video makes me really want to live his life. Extra points for going to visit his pet tiger.
3.The Karate Kid
C'mon, did you really think this wasn't going to be on the list. A+ to the casting director who found the douchiest bunch of A-holes to play the Cobra Kai, I mean seriously I think this chick went on to cast 'Jersey Shore'. That up against Daniel-san's frail, weak looking stance, Mr. Miyagi's stern look and a little Joe Esposito for confidence and you TOO would be feeling like you were the best around!
Side note: Is the black dude on Cobra Kai the same guy that played LaMarr(the flamin' gay nerd) in Revenge of the Nerds?!?! Never noticed that....must head to IMDB
2.Bloodsport
My all time favorite fighting movie...gotta be near the top. Admittedly there's very little Van Damme action in this vid but I adore how they show all the different styles and attitudes of the fighters. KUMITE KUMITE KUMITE!
PS- Chong Li (Bolo Yeung), best karate movie villain ever.
1.Rocky IV
Sorry for the ad time...another Jackass decided to disable embedding on youtube so this is the best I could get at short notice, give it the 30 seconds it's silly worth it!
No easy way out- Rocky IV OST movie clip (HQ)

DUH. Who didn't know Rocky would be number 1, but the question is, which montage and why? They're all great but this is by far the best. The level of emotion in this four minutes matches that of the first three movies combined. This combined with the fact that it sums up very nicely his journey up until this point make this montage better than 'Gonna Fly Now' 'Hearts on Fire' and yes, even 'Eye of the Tiger'.
So there you have it. What'd I miss, which glaring omissions are you chompin' at the keyboard to tell me about. I'll be honest I thought this was going to be a cinch to write but once I got down to it I had a hard time finding ten worthy selections. So, please, if you have some favorites that I haven't listed here tell me about them!

I can pick this one because I'm a girl. The "Maniac" montage from the movie Flashdance.
