What the heck's going on with Baz Luhrmann's The Great Gatsby?

I'll keep this short because the mere thought of what I'm typing is making my fingers quiver.  We've known that Baz Luhrmann(Moulin Rouge) has been work shopping and planning a big screen adaptation of The Great Gatsby for the last few months.  With Leonardo Dicaprio and Tobey Maguire already locked in as Gatsby and Nick Carraway respectively, weeks were spent searching for someone suitable for the role of the shallow but beautiful Daisy Buchanan. Eventually it went to Carey Mulligan, and the film set up shop at the top of my most anticipated movies list for whenever it might come out.

Since then there hasn't been much info, other than that Luhrmann might shoot it in 3D, a baffling idea if there ever was one. And now I think we're starting to get an idea why so little info has come out. Speaking briefly with Vulture during the Directors Guild of America awards, Luhrmann doesn't even appear certain that he'll make the film at all. Say wha????

Luhrman: “I gotta make a decision in three days' time."

Oh, you mean on the 3D.....right? RIGHT!!??

Luhrman: “Whether to do it or not," “I think I've been a bit shaded out because I want everything to be perfectly positioned on it. There will be news by the end of the week.”

What the sh*t does that mean, "shaded out"? Surely he's not going to let a cast this talented go to waste, right? Or a project this perfectly suited to his and their abilities? I know that Luhrmann is a famously picky filmmaker, but I'm going to hope that Vulture just caught him while in a bad mood or something. I'll be keeping a eagle eye out for that decision he promised us.
