Yippee Kai Yay! Noam Murro to direct Die Hard 5!
I've been trying to ignore any and all developments regarding any of the planned Die Hard sequels Bruce Willis has been wanting to make. I wasn't a big fan of the PG-13 Live Free or Die Hard, and expect that Die Hard 5 would be more of the same tepid action. The last thing I remember was back when Skip Woods(The A-Team) was hired to pen the script for the sequel. There was a blip on the rumor radar about the film being titled Die Hard 24/7, but I don't think that quite stuck.
Even though I was pretending the whole thing didn't exist, apparently 20th Century Fox and Bruce Willis were still trying to piece Die Hard 5 together, and now they've found a director for it: Noam Murro. I know, you've probably never heard of him, but he's actually a very accomplished commercial director, nominated for 5 DGA awards. His only theatrical film that I can recall is 2008's Smart People, which featured Dennis Quaid and Ellen Page. Not a particular favorite of mine, but that had more to do with the script.
I remember at one time Bruce Willis publicly stating his desire to have Len Wiseman come back for Die Hard 5. I guess Willis liked what he brought to the table before. Most recently Willis was looking towards Daniel Espinosa(Safe House) for the gig.
With Morra being a relatively inexperienced theatrical director, and Fox's reported dislike for Skip Woods' latest script, who knows where the film will go from here. It's not too late to back out now, Bruce!
