Maybe it's because it's Terrence Malick and we know how beautiful his movies tend to be, but these new images from The Tree of Life are mesmerizing even though they're all so simple. A shot of the family playing catch on the front lawn, a mother shares a knowing look with her son. They're all like fine paintings, snapshots of a different time. As much as I adored the trailer, for some reason I'm more amazed by these images, and that's without any of them encompassing the star-spanning aspect of the film.
In it's simplest terms, The Tree of Life is the story of Jack(Sean Penn) and his journey from innocent boy growing up in the 1950s to a disillusioned adult. Brad Pitt stars as Jack's father, while Jessica Chastain is already set for a breakout as Jack's mother.
There are more than 50 images you can find at Kinopoisk(via The Film Stage), but I picked out a few of my favorites which you can check out below. The Tree of Life finally debuts a couple months from now on May 27th!
