Sure Shots: John Cusack; Anthony Hopkins; Wildwood Inn

* If there's an actor I'll forever go to bat for it's John Cusack. Thank his run of amazing comedies in the 80s and of course, High Fidelity(there's no reason for any man on earth to not have seen it). Even when he makes turds(War Inc., 2012) I can forgive him.  He's got the Edgar Allen Poe movie coming up next, but after that he'll be writing and starring in Dictablanda, which Variety describes as a "screwball comedy of manners" Alejandro Agresti(The Lake House) will be directing. Count me in, as long as it's better than Hot Tub Time Machine.

* Odin vs. James Bond? On paper it seems like a mismatch. UK tabloid site The Sun is reporting Anthony Hopkins may be up for a role as a villain in Bond 23, directed by Sam Mendes.  They seem pretty confident about it, noting that "the only stumbling block seems to be the number of films he is signing up for." Daniel Craig and Judi Dench are confirmed to return. Ralph Fiennes is up for some vaguely defined role, and Javier Bardem has been rumored to be attached to play the primary nemesis. So what would that leave for Hopkins?

* Our homie Brendon Connelly over at Bleeding Cool has some info on Wildwood Inn, the directorial debut by actor Christopher McDonald(The Perfect Storm). Malin Akerman(Couples Retreat), the actress everybody loves to hate, has been confirmed for one of the film's major roles. There's some debate about the other, as one of the film's producers confirmed Jim Sturgess(The Way Back), but the actor's reps say otherwise.  The pic is about "when two young couples dissatisfied with their marriages discover they both stay in the same mountain cabin each year, at alternate times, they begin to explore relationships outside of their marriage via the cabin’s welcome journal."
