3. Battle: Los Angeles
My favorite element of Jonathan Liebesman's alien invasion flick is the scope. While it focuses primarily on one small, inexperienced unit led by a grizzled and battle-tested Aaron Eckhart, it's just a small piece in a global war against an unknown enemy. Take note, though. The film is called BATTLE: Los Angeles. This is a 100% war scenario, so expect cliche characters, rah-rah speeches, and a heavy focus on action over substance.
2. Rango
You kinda knew after True Grit
that we'd see an influx of old school Westerns, but who would've thought the next and possibly best would star an animated lizard voiced by Johnny Depp? Besides the cast of quirky animal characters gunslingin' vigilantes, it's the photo realistic animation by Industrial Lights & Magic that is the real showstopper. DVD Pick of the Week: Morning Glory
The impeccable comedic savvy of Harrison Ford and Diane Keaton is met with the undeniable charm of Rachel McAdams in this witty comedy from the writer of The Devil Wears Prada.
