Tops at the Box Office: Wimpy Kid knocks Sucker Punch the f**k out!

1. Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules- $24.4M
Perhaps showing the stark difference in audience pools between the week's two major releases, the sequel to Wimpy Kid showed to be even stronger than last year's film, which opened at a strong $22M. Part of the reason for it's success is the PG rating and family friendly nature. Plus it's just a plain ol' funny film. That helps.
2. Sucker Punch- $19M
Well let's just say it, Sucker Punch's audience? Roughly the same as that of Kick-Ass. Their box office debuts? Almost identical. Zack Snyder's first original film yet(he's done nothing but adaptations and remakes) also qualifies as his 2nd worst opening yet. Now the question becomes whether or not it earns back the $80M budget. I think there's little doubt it'll do well overseas, and much like other niche films there'll be a certain cult status stamped on it. Still, this has to be considered a disappointment for Warner Brothers and Snyder.

3. Limitless- $15.2M/$41.3M
Showing that older folks who like thrillers still hold some sway, Limitless had the second smallest drop of the week, dipping only 20%. Bradley Cooper? Superstar? Afraid so.
4. The Lincoln Lawyer- $11M/$29M
Same goes for Matthew McConaughey's return to legal drama, as The Lincoln Lawyer only fell 17%.
5. Rango- $9.8M/$106M
Along way to go to hit safe profitability, but it's still the highest grossing film of the year to date. Crazy, right?
6.  Battle: Los Angeles- $7.6M/$72.6M
7. Paul- $7.51M/$24.6M
8. Red Riding Hood- $4.39M/$32.5M
9. The Adjustment Bureau- $4.24M/$54.9M
10. Mars Needs Moms- $2.19M/$19.2M
