Kirsten Dunst, Lizzy Caplan, and Adam Scott join Will Ferrell produced comedy, Bachelorette

For my money the best comedy that you will see this year will be Bridesmaids, starring a wealth of extremely funny ladies like Kristen Wiig, Maya Rudolph, and Rose Byrne. The film has kicked up a lot of critical dust ahead of it's release next week, so it makes sense that we'd see some similarly themed flicks crop up. The next one, and a potentially very good one, will be produced by Will Ferrell and Adam McKay's Gary Sanchez production company, and is set to star Kirsten Dunst, Lizzy Caplan, and Adam Scott.

Currently working under the title, Bachelorette, THR reports the plot as being about "three best friends (two of whom would be played by Caplan and Dunst) who are invited to act as bridesmaids at the wedding of a girl they called “Pigface” in high school." Casey Wilson, currently a regular on the ABC sitcom, Happy Endings, is playing the blushing bride, who apparently has some plans in store for her former tormentors.

Caplan, who is so good at rough deadpan humor, will play a girl with a Playboy bunny bod and a brain like Larry David. Yikes.  Dunst's character is described as being "crisp and severe", your best friend and worst enemy. Scott will play the high school crush of Caplan's character, who shows up to the wedding with a much hotter woman on his arm. For Caplan and Scott this will be a reunion as the two starred together on the beloved but little seen Starz Network comedy, Party Down. >sniff< I still miss that show. Henry and Casey 4ever!!!

This will mark the directorial debut of Leslye Headland, who also wrote the script. Headland was a writer on the short-lived FX series, Terriers. She's been given a teeny tiny $3M budget for this one, with plans for production to begin this summer in New York.
