Even though she won't be appearing in
The Hobbit, Saoirse Ronan(
Hanna
) already has a lot on her plate. What with the potential
Anna Karenina
adaptation from her
Atonement director Joe Wright; and Stephanie Meyers'
The Host
coming up, Ronan is seriously in demand right now. That's fine with me because I think she's the most versatile young actress working today, and maybe that's the reason why Neil Jordan(
The Brave One
) scooped her up for a high profile role that will take Ronan into the popular world of vampires.
THR reports that she, along with Gemma Arterton(
Tamara Drewe
), will star in
Byzantium, with Jordan directing and based on an original script by Moira Buffini(
Jane Eyre
). Even though vamps are at the core of the story, don't expect this to be some artsy version of Twilight, as the story is about
"a mother vampire who turns her own daughter into a vampire and the pair form a lethal partnership, sometimes posing as sisters."Sounds a a little bit erotic, and potentially very disturbing. That shouldn't be a problem for Jordan, who dealt with some...interesting vampire dynamics when he directed
Interview with the Vampire
way back in 1994. No word on when production on this one will begin, but expect to hear much more on this one soon.
