Sure Shots: The Three Stooges; Barry Levinson; Anna Faris

* And The Three Stooges casting rolls on. At one point, celebrity curmudgeon Larry David(Curb Your Enthusiasm, Seinfeld) had been rumored to be up for the role of Larry in The Farrelly Brothers film. That role went to Sean Hayes(which should show the casting desperate measures), but David finds himself involved anyway. He'll play a nun, but not just an ordinary nun. A nun named Mother Mengele. With Jane Lynch playing Mother Superior, I wish this would be a movie just about those two and skip all the Stooges junk.  Will Sasso is playing Curly, with Chris Diamantopolous as Moe.

* Barry Levinson is replacing Nick Cassavetes(The Notebook) as director of Gotti: Three Generations. Cassvetes stepped down from the mob pic a few weeks ago...I'm going to say because it looks like crap already, regardless of producer Mark Fiore comparing it to The Godfather. Even The Godfather isn't The Godfather anymore, dude. Anyway, the film follows the Gambino Crime Family over the course of decades. John Gotti Jr. is assisting, so you KNOW we'll be getting an honest take.  John Travolta, Joe Pesci, and Lindsay Lohan are confirmed to star at this point.

* People loved Borat, but took a dump on Sacha Baron Cohen's follow-up, Bruno. Not that I blame them, as the improvising shock comedian's humor is only fun to watch once. If that.  His next film, The Dictator, follows in the mold of Cohen's others in that it's set to turn a few heads and probably a few stomachs will making a larger socio-political point.  And it'll be at least partially ad lib. The comedy stars Cohen as a ruthless dictator who heads to the U.S. for a meeting at the United Nations and finds that his number two has replaced him with an unsuspecting sheepherder lookalike. As the dictator wanders the city, he meets the owner of an organic food store… She turns around his dictatorial thinking, and there’s a little romance in it as well." Larry Charles is back to direct, with Ben Kingsley set to co-star. Deadline is also reporting that Anna Faris is now in talks for the female lead, which given her obvious comedic talents should be a perfect fit.
