Jason Clarke is George Wilson in The Great Gatsby

Baz Luhrmann has seen fit to cast a bunch of Aussies to fill out the ranks of his adaptation of The Great Gatsby. That's all well and good with me, because the cast he's assembled is the strongest of any flick on the horizon. Most of the major roles have been filled, but there was one left. George Wilson, the beleaguered husband of the cheating Myrtle Wilson. And now THR reports that fast rising Australian actor Jason Clarke has been brought on thttp://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/jason-clarke-snags-key-role-200907o play him.

Clarke joins a cast that includes Leonardo Dicaprio as Jay Gatsby, Tobey Maguire as Nick Carraway, Carey Mulligan as Daisy Buchanan, Joel Edgerton as Tom Buchanan, Elizabeth Debicki as Jordan Baker, and Isla Fisher as Myrtle Wilson. Clarke is probably best known for his stint on the Showtime series, Brotherhood. He'll be seen coming up in John Hillcoat's The Wettest County.

George Wilson plays a pivotal role in the final leg of F. Scott Fitzgerald's classic story, but in case you somehow haven't read the book or seen one of the numerous movies I won't spoil it.  Shooting kicks off this summer in Australia, and may be shot in 3D. I'm still scratching my head over that one.
