Paul Feig's upcoming comedy planned for Bridesmaids stars Jon Hamm and Melissa McCarthy

Let's be honest, Bridesmaids took almost everybody by surprise. Probably it's director, Paul Feig, as well. Being shocked at the film's success didn't stop him from using his newfound comedic capital to secure his next gig pretty quickly, with Universal snatching up his planned romantic comedy just last week. When Feig first mentioned the film last month, he referred to it as an "unconventional" comedy that may star his Bridesmaids breakout, Melissa McCarthy. Well now we know a little bit more, and it still sounds great.

Deadline has rounded up a few more details on the film. There's still no title, but apparently the story will be about a man who becomes obsessed with a woman. The guy is being patterned on Jon Hamm, and the woman on Melissa McCarthy. Other than Kristen Wiig, Hamm and McCarthy were the two stand out performers in Bridesmaids, so seeing them get back together should be a riot. I can only guess as to what's so "unconventional" about it except that Hamm is a traditionally handsome dude while McCarthy is beautiful in a less obvious way to most folks.

No deals have been struck, so the only other info we have is that Judd Apatow is producing.  On a slightly related note, is it me or is everybody from Bridesmaids getting more offers than Kristen Wiig? It's actual star?
